The Human Factor - The Human Side of Ethics

What causes an otherwise intelligent person — a person who knows the difference between right and wrong — to make a choice that will negatively impact themselves and their organization? You’ll find out in this fascinating presentation on human values and ethics. With a unique perspective gain from his own past experience, Chuck sheds new light on why we do what we do and how to positively influence behavior.

Most ethics presentations and training programs focus on compliance and legal issues — as if ethical choices are either legal or not. The reality is, ethical choices have far more impact on a company or organization long before the issue of “legal or illegal” comes into play. While your Ethics Code of Conduct might meet all the standards required, the missing piece for most companies is the ability to help management and employees understand the human dynamic associated with conduct management.

It’s time to take ethics training in a different direction. No longer is a two-hour compliance speech going to change behavior! Chuck will pull back the curtain to reveal the truth about ethical behavior and how we shape a new direction in ethical leadership.

Expect to leave this presentation with the ability to:

  • Understand specific human dynamics when it comes to ethical decisions.
  • Identify key components involved in making ethical choices.
  • Review the phases of “The Unethical Continuum.”
  • Establish a road map to keep employees’ behavior between the ethical lines.

Every Choice has a Consequence

Each choice we make and each step we take provides the foundation for our future. Wherever you are right now-regardless of the circumstance-your choices define who you are and the outcomes you will live. While your employees may be aware of this on some level, do they truly realize the power behind the choices they make on a daily basis? More importantly, what’s the risk to your company if they don’t?

In his unusually authentic style, Chuck reveals the consequences of the unethical decisions he made in his own attempt to build the great American dream for himself and his family. This powerful ethics presentation is filled with unforgettable messages of success and failure, illusions and reality, and choices and consequences.

Your audience will discover:

  • How easy it is for ethical people to make unethical choices-and what to do about it.
  • The impact of life’s choices and how that affects your performance, both personally and professionally.
  • Real-world practical examples of how to use ethics and integrity to create success in business and life.

This motivational keynote ethics presentation has received rave reviews and was voted Program of the Year by NACE.

The Ethics of Excellence

Based on many of the key insights Chuck reveals in his book, The Ethics of Excellence: How Everyday Choices can Power You to Greatness, this presentation sheds new light on the motivating behaviors behind the choices that we make-and how our personal behavior is deeply intertwined with our professional success.

After hearing Chuck’s keynote-which is based on experience, education and even humor-your employees and managers will have the ability to:

  • Find out how and why people drift from making good ethical decisions to making decisions that are unethical or illegal.
  • Identify patterns of behavior that are indicators of potential unethical behavior ahead.
  • Seek opportunities to turn personal behavior into ethical success for your people and your company.

What You Don't Know Won't Hurt Me

Every one would like to believe that their teen or young adult would naturally make ethical decisions. What You Don’t Know Won’t Hurt Me is an entertaining yet captivating presentation that explores the truth of what we believe and the actions that we take. This is an awesome program to help cultivate an teens who make ethical choices naturally.

According to a Junior Achievement survey of teens, there is a major disconnect between actions and applying the difference between right and wrong. “The key thing that we found is that the majority of teens are saying that they have confidence in their ethical decision-making capabilities, but in juxtaposition to that, many of them believe that lying, cheating, plagiarizing, and behaving violently are necessary in some instances to succeed,” says Cynthia Hofmann, communications director for Junior Achievement Worldwide. ”

Along those same lines, they show a willingness to rationalize specific unethical decisions.” In short, the kids in this study think some things can be “wrong,” but can also be okay given the right circumstances.

What You Don’t Know Won’t Hurt Me will help young people and their parents or caregivers understand the following:

  • Uncover the truth between what a teen says and what a teen believes (based on peer pressure)
  • Identifies the ethical dilemmas that all young people experience in their daily lives, and open a realistic dialogue to understand and discuss
  • Creates realistic scenarios making this program a good choice for those teens who need some advice about how to deal with all that they face in their daily lives
  • Provides a framework for your teen to make his/her own decisions and understand and live with the consequences that follow.

This program is great for High Schools, Colleges/Universities, Teacher/Parent Organizations and Educational Associations.
