Collective Connection: The Science of Energized Teams and Collaboration

You’ve felt it before. A room that comes alive. A team that stops grinding and starts soaring. A moment when everyone in the space seems to exhale at the same time… and something shifts. You’ve felt it, chased it, and tried to recreate it. But you’ve probably never known its name.

It’s called collective effervescence. Which is the measurable phenomenon that explains why some gatherings transform people and others simply end. Most leaders know when it’s happened. Almost none know how to make it happen on purpose.

Nina Meehan does.

As a PhD, award-winning director, and TEDx speaker with two decades of engineering collective experience at scale, Nina has spent her career studying — and manufacturing — the conditions that make people feel something together. In this keynote, she names the phenomenon, grounds it in science, and then gives every leader in the room a practical framework to create it intentionally: in their teams, in their meetings, and in the culture they’re building every day.

Because here’s the truth most organizations are missing: every human being with responsibility for other people is, whether they know it or not, an experience designer. The only question is whether they’re designing on purpose.

Through her framework, Nina gives you four intentional conditions that move any group from disconnection to shared momentum. This isn’t soft science. It’s the competitive advantage your culture has been missing.

Audiences Will Walk Away With:

  • The four conditions that create connection on demand. A working understanding of the LIFT framework and the specific behaviors that activate each stage.
  • A reframe of their role. Every leader walks out understanding themselves as an experience designer and accepting the responsibility that comes with that identity.
  • Practical tools for any room, any scale. Concrete techniques to shift the energy of a meeting, a team offsite, or an entire organizational culture, applicable immediately, not theoretically.
  • The science behind why human connection drives business outcomes. A grounded, research-backed case for investing in collective energy as a retention, productivity, and culture strategy — not a “nice to have.”

This Keynote Is Ideal For:

  • Corporate conferences and leadership summits where attendees are navigating change fatigue, AI disruption, or distributed team dynamics
  • HR, people ops, and culture leaders responsible for employee engagement, retention, and belonging
  • Event professionals and meeting planners (particularly powerful — Nina’s work speaks directly to what they already intuitively understand about rooms that work and rooms that don’t)
  • Association conferences in healthcare, education, finance, or any sector experiencing workforce disconnection
  • Executive and C-suite offsites where leadership teams need to reset culture or rebuild trust after periods of stress or transition
  • Women’s leadership events and diversity/inclusion-focused programming where authentic connection and psychological safety are core themes
  • Nonprofit and mission-driven organizations where purpose alignment and collective identity are central to organizational health
