Katie Mullen has been an active leader in the Wait a Bit movement, a group that was introduced in September 2017 and rapidly gained a huge following.  The group was designed to support parents as they work through the tough decisions on Smart Phone introductions for their children and all the grown-up issues that come with them, such as pornography, social media, online predators, and more.  The Wait a Bit group works closely with the Wait Until 8th group, which is a national group and has been featured on almost every news program from NPR to Good Morning America.  The Wait a Bit Group has a mission to come alongside parents at every stage of development–infants through adults–and proactively support them in the device introduction process.  They hope to inspire, equip, and mobilize families and schools to make intentional decisions about their use of emerging technologies, avoid their unintended consequences, and leverage them for meaningful human interaction.  Katie Mullen is also a blogger and author of the book, The Happy Mommy Handbook: The Ultimate How-to Guide on Keeping Your Toddlers and Preschoolers Busy, Out of Trouble, and Motivated to Learn

Katie also speaks with Pamela Twohill

Pam’s work with teens, families, children and adolescents has spanned a ten year period. Since obtaining her Masters in Social Work from Georgia State University in 2008, she has worked in day and long term treatment centers for youth, the Department of Family and Children’s Services in the state of Georgia, provided in-home treatment services for families with high needs and finally had operated a private practice for the last five years in Atlanta, Georgia. Pam, her husband and three daughters recently relocated home to the best place in the country: Kansas City! She couldn’t be happier to be home again.

Pam and Katie make a great team, pairing Pam’s clinical experience with Katie’s practical experience co-leading the Wait a Bit group.
